03 / Who we are

Two people, one studio

We are Mel and Tanaka. We run the studio together, with writing, voice, sound, and picture all under one roof.

Mel handles words, voice, and language. Tanaka handles motion, editing, sound, and finishing. We work as one team, so nothing gets handed between vendors: the words, the voice, the sound, and the picture are all decided in the same room.

Working across North American and African time zones means coverage almost around the clock, and working in French and English means reach across Canada and North American markets. You get the range of an agency with the focus and accountability of a small, senior team.

Mel is a bilingual writer, editor, and translator (French and English) with theatre training that also makes her a strong voiceover performer. She brings five years of institutional communications and freelance range across many sectors since 2018.

Motion, editing, audio, and music

Tanaka is a motion designer and editor with ten years of work for Apple, Meta, National Geographic, Amazon Prime, the Rockefeller Foundation, PEN America, and the Essence Festival of Culture, where he served as Head of Animation. He also contributed to Michelle Obama's book campaign.
